Hotel Jokai Villa
The Siofok villa was built by David Brown in 1897 and the building was
purchased at the turn of the century by Dr. Vilmos Fekete, a lawyer from
Timisoara. The name of the villa in Siofok refers to the life of one of the
greatest romantic writers, Yokai Mor.
In 1903, Yokai spent the last summer of his life in this cozy villa on Lake
Balaton as the owner's guest. Yokai Mor made frequent appearances in Siofok by
Lake Balaton and used his experience on a cruise from Siofok to Fured for his
novel The Golden Man.
Balaton is the largest freshwater lake in Europe, which surprises visitors
every season.
